FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions about therapy and my practice.
How long will therapy take?
The duration of therapy is dependent on many factors including but not limited to presenting issue(s) and frequency of sessions. With that being said, I will always discuss treatment length with clients and reassess at various points throughout therapy. Therapy is a collaborative effort and treatment duration decisions are no exception to that.
What is your specialty?
I specialize in treating adults 18 years and older who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and/or life stressors. I primarily use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy. For more information on this therapy, you can visit www.emdria.org.
If you feel like I am not a good fit for your therapeutic needs then I will provide referrals for a different provider.
Do you prescribe medication?
I am not licensed or trained to prescribe medication. If it seems like medication may be a helpful treatment option for you, we will discuss this and I can make the appropriate referral for a medication assessment.
Why should I engage in therapy?
Therapy is a safe, protected space where clients can speak to someone who is trained to help with mental health issues.
Although getting support from friends and family can be an important part of treatment, it is not the same as meeting with a trained professional on a regular basis. The therapist plays a different, specific role in the client's life that gives them the space and freedom to explore complicated and often, difficult issues.
Do you have a sliding scale?
At this time, I do not use a sliding scale.
